Frequently Asked Question

General Problems/Troubleshooting Question:
What happens if I get a blank screen when I try to perform a certain function within ECMS?

Answer:
Check and make sure your Pop Blockers are off. Many functions within ECMS utilize what are known as ActiveX controls. These mini-programs are self-installing, but they're dependant upon certain DLL files being loaded on your computer. If you experience "blank screens", it's probably due either to the inability of your browser to install ActiveX controls on your machine (see note below), or because some dependant DLL files are not present on your machine.
There is a function built right into ECMS that installs dependant DLL files on your machine that are not already present. To run this function, click on References, then Support DLL Setup. It normally takes between one and two minutes for this utility to complete. Once complete, you will see a message on your screen saying "Download Complete", and you should now have all of the DLL files that you will need to utilize the ECMS application.
After running the Support DLL Setup, go back into the particular function that you was giving you a problem before. This time, you should have the necessary DLL files, and the ActiveX controls should be able to successfully install themselves on your computer.
Note: Some operating systems, such as Windows NT and Windows 2000 prevent changes from being made to system folders (including the loading of DLL files and ActiveX controls), unless the user is logged in as a Local Administrator or has Administrative permissions associated with their network userid. If you use either of these Operating systems, be sure that you have Administrator privileges on your machine. Otherwise you'll be unable to install DLL files and ActiveX controls and you'll experience blank screens.
